Saxophones are one of the oldest instruments and although made of brass, they are part of the woodwind family. Known for their flexibility for playing styles that range from classical to jazz to rock, their sound can be warm, full and smooth or bright and shrill.
Entius was developed to fill the need of providing musical instruments that better integrate into a band environment. You may wonder why this need existed. We joined forces with NEMC (The National Educational Music Company), who have helped place instruments in the hands of children for school music programs across the nation for over 60 years, and together we realized that many of the instruments being provided in the market were inadequate to ensure a positive and successful musical experience, leading to frustration and failure.
We knew it was time to find the solution by providing them with a better tool for success – an instrument that would facilitate the learning process and allow children to play without the constraints that would hold them back.
We consulted with other industry leaders and looked to identify the crucial attributes, that when combined, would lead to an instrument that would allow children to play based on their ability rather than an instrument’s inefficiencies holding them back. Our experienced repair technician team collaborated with expert engineers to pinpoint the qualities needed to allow the best consistent, free-playing sound. The team achieved this by focusing on evenness of scale, harmonious tone and playability coupled with overall aesthetics, quality of materials and a solid construction. It was with these specifications that we developed the Entius brand.
